Laser facial aftercare (full face): a new-client 7-day plan
By Skin With Bea Esthetics | August 28, 2026
The most important rule after a laser facial is simple: protect your skin from heat and sun. If your treatment included our red light therapy and cooling mask, keep that same “cool and calm” mindset at home so healing stays quick and easy, especially in Scottsdale.
Our full-face Laser Facial for new clients is designed to smooth texture, refine pores, and enhance your overall complexion. It’s a 60-minute appointment in our studio, and the results depend just as much on what you do after as what we do in the room. This is the exact 7-day plan we want you following if you’re coming to us in the McDowell Mountain Ranch area, heading back out on Loop 101, or trying to fit healing around golf and hikes.
0–24 hours after your full-face laser facial: keep it cool, clean, and makeup-free
Right after treatment, your skin usually feels warm and a little tight, kind of like a mild sunburn. That’s normal. What helps most is reducing heat and friction.
Do this today: Cool compresses (clean and soft), gentle cleanser only, fragrance-free moisturizer, and no makeup for at least 24 hours. Skip hot showers, saunas, and anything that makes your face flush.
- Wash with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser. Pat dry. Don’t scrub.
- Keep hands off your face. No picking, no “just checking” rough spots.
- Avoid active skincare for now, especially retinoids, AHAs, and BHAs. We generally want those paused for at least one week unless we tell you otherwise.
- If you’re already on tretinoin, keep it out of the routine this week. Let your barrier settle first.
And a Scottsdale-specific note: even a quick drive with sun pouring through the windshield counts. If you have to be out, cover up and plan on SPF once your skin is ready for it.
24–72 hours in Scottsdale heat: no sweat, no sun, no “quick hike”
This is the window where people accidentally undo their own results. Heat and sweat can keep you red longer, make you feel more irritated, and raise the risk of pigment issues. Scottsdale sun is intense, even when it doesn’t feel that hot.
For 48–72 hours, we generally recommend: no intense cardio, no hot yoga, no steam rooms, no hot tubs, and no pools. Keep workouts light and indoors if you have to move.
If you’re in the McDowell Mountain Ranch area and you’re trying to squeeze in a hike or a round of golf, plan it before your appointment, not after. Early-morning appointments also help if you’re coming in before outdoor plans, since you’ll be less tempted to step right back into midday sun.
Sun protection rules we don’t bend on
- Avoid direct sun, especially 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you must be outside, seek shade.
- Wear a wide-brim hat and sunglasses. Physical coverage matters as much as SPF.
- Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily once your skin tolerates it. Mineral sunscreen is usually the easiest during healing.
Days 4–7: the “mild peel” phase and how to not mess it up
A little dryness or mild flaking can show up during the first week. That doesn’t mean something went wrong. It usually means your skin is turning over and settling into that smoother texture you came in for.
“I was so impressed with the after care for the laser... I walked out of there with a slightly red face. It was not anything like my prior experiences with that very same procedure.”

Here’s what we want you doing this week:
- Keep cleansing gentle and keep water lukewarm. Hot water feels good and makes irritation worse.
- Moisturize more than you think you need. Dry skin often makes people want to exfoliate. Don’t.
- Do not pick or peel, even if something is lifting. Picking can leave a mark that lasts longer than the flake ever would.
- Hold active ingredients for at least one week, including retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, scrubs, and at-home devices that heat the skin.
Quick Scottsdale tip: If you’re driving between Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, or Paradise Valley, keep a hat in the car. Desert sun sneaks up during errands.
The “safe routine” after a laser treatment for face: cleanser, moisturizer, SPF
If you’re overwhelmed by skincare, this week is the time to get simple. Your skin is doing repair work, so we keep the routine boring on purpose.
Cleanser
Gentle, fragrance-free, no scrubs. If your face feels “squeaky clean, ” it’s usually too strong.
Moisturizer
Fragrance-free and barrier-friendly. Apply on slightly damp skin to lock in hydration, especially if you run dry.
Sunscreen
Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily. Mineral formulas are often the easiest while healing. Reapply if you’re outside.
If you left with samples and written instructions, follow those exactly. We love when people tell us the directions were “clear and precise, ” because that’s what protects your results.
If something feels “off” after your facial laser resurfacing, reach out fast
Mild redness, warmth, and dryness can be normal in the first few days. What we don’t want you doing is guessing if you’re worried. If you notice severe redness, blistering, increasing pain, pus, fever, or anything that looks like infection, call us right away. And if you’re unsure, reach out anyway. We’d rather answer a quick question than have you stress about it.
“Bea even checks up on her to see how she’s doing and if there is anything else she may need or have any questions.”

Next-step reminder: Confirm your follow-up or touch-up plan before life gets busy. Consistency is what keeps pores refined and tone bright.
